Welcome to my Angela Morrell’s Website!

Angela Morrell is a multidisciplinary sculptor whose imaginative work explores the intersections of memory, materiality, and storytelling. Best known for her whimsical and expressive assemblage sculptures, Morrell brings together natural textures, industrial remnants, and unexpected objects to form characters and creatures that seem to emerge from a mythic, alternate history. Her practice is rooted in curiosity — a desire to give new voice to forgotten things, and to blur the boundaries between the organic and the mechanical, the humorous and the profound.

Working primarily with found and reclaimed materials — from wood, feathers, and shells to rusted metal, vintage tools, and domestic hardware — Morrell builds her sculptures intuitively, allowing each object’s unique form, wear, and energy to guide its transformation. The resulting works are playful yet layered, rich in symbolism and always inviting closer inspection. Birds are a recurring motif in her work, often used as metaphors for freedom, absurdity, and vulnerability — perched mid-gesture on ladders, springs, or imagined pedestals.

Morrell approaches her art-making as a process of excavation — not only of materials, but of meaning, emotion, and forgotten stories. Her sculptures are as much about the past lives of objects as they are about the present moment of imagination. Through her work, she invites viewers to pause, wonder, and reconnect with the strange, poetic beauty hidden in the everyday.
